Yesterday I completed the inking for this week's "Part 1" page, and today I completed the pencils for "Part 2." So next comes the coloring for Part 1. Coloring is the one process in this business that I really have trouble with. I mean, I do it well, but it just takes SO DAMN LONG! It's by far the longest part of the process. It just goes on and on AND ON. I can sit in front of the computer for four hours, doing nothing but color, and STILL be only half done on any given page. UGH!

Today I mailed out the second of two Ultra Fem pages for this week. I've been doing two pages a week for the past two months, almost. The current episode is FINALLY coming to a close! Two more pages next week, then a one-page finale the week after that.

January 13 will be the first page of episode 3. It's going to be a logistically difficult story. Lots of characters, including every member of the Ultra Fem Five, plus all three sidekicks. The Martian Manhater and Big Girl will make their debuts, as will Bat Boy and Cattail. Whew!

All this, AND I'm doing full-on commissioned comics pages for a client!

I was busy last night! I added a bunch of new items to the WEB SITE, including TWO NEW WALLPAPERS! Plus, I mailed out this week's Ultra Fem comics page. It's a day late, but I don't think my subscribers will mind! It's a large and complex page, with more layers and unusual coloring needs than probably any other page I've done so far. And elements from it were used to make the new wallpapers I mentioned.

And I've got MORE planned before the weekend is out!

Here's a funky preview of what Ultra Fem subscribers will be seeing this Friday! This was a LOT of fun to create! I think this may turn into something all on its own some day!

First half of today's UF pages went out this afternoon. Second half will go out this evening. Still have a little work to do on it.

I'm only going to do one page for next Friday. It's a complex page, and I need a break, too! I'll also try to squeeze in some wallpapers I've been thinking about.

Furiously working on TWO new pages for Friday! Sunday I pencilled pages 12a and 12b, then inked them yesterday. Today I've been coloring 12a. I'm doing two pages per week to get the current story to move along. It'll just NEVER end if I dont! And there's so many more stories to tell after this one!

I was planing on releasing TWO pages this Friday, but I don't know if I'll make it. I woke up with a fever today, so I lost the whole day for work. I doubt I'll be able to catch up by Friday. Maybe I'll release a weekend or mid-week page?

At one point, I had a full month's worth of pages in the can, but I lost that lead over the last three weeks. I couldn't make a decent drawing to save my life. It was SO frustrating! I seem to be over that block now, so maybe I can build up that lead again over the next few weeks.

But I still have this one guy who paid for a subscription and used a bad e-mail address. I can't even communicate with him to tell him his e-mail is bad! Let's see how long it takes before he complains, then maybe I can get him caught up.

NEW SUBSCRIBERS: I've picked up a few new subscriptions this week. One of them gave me a bad e-mail address, though. His Paypal money came through, but I can't communicate with him. (If that was YOU, go to the forum and contact me through a different address, please!)

EPISODE 1 is over! Page 6 mailed out today, bringing Ultra Fem's first adventure to a close! I'm planning on making it available for purchase as a single document for late-comers.

EPISODE 2 starts next week! It will mark the first appearances of Night Mistress, The Scratch, the UFF-Quarters and our first villain (whom I haven't even started on yet!).

Seen here is a preview of what the UFF-Quarters will look like. This is a very low-res first draft that a friend helped create in 3-D, with my added colors and some freehand-drawn windows. Future appearances will be very elaborate, and hopefully very cool!

Color for page 8a and 8b are done, and page 7 is about half done. I still have work to do on the backgrounds for page 7. Ick. I hate background art.

Meanwhile, here's a preview for Week 8!

I have completed the color work for page 8, due out on Nov 11, and I will do the colors for page 9 tonight. I am considering releasing page 9 on Nov 11 also, because things have gone so quickly for these pages. In that case, I'd call it "page 8b."

I will definitely release two pages at a time every now and again when things go quickly on my end, because I want my stories to move along. One page a week is SLOW as far as storytelling goes! (And I suspect the susbcribers will appreciate it, too. Ya think?)

I still have to complete the ink and color for page 7, which has a complicated background. I'm getting help from a 3-D artist for it, because the UFF headquarters building appears in it. (see the special section on the CHARACTERS page at the UF web site)

GOODBYE TO YAHOO! I finally had enough of Yahoo's censorship! They keep deleting entire groups and user e-mail addresses, with no warning or possibility of come-back. They deleted several groups that belonged to friends of mine today, so I said ENOUGH! All of my list activity will be done in my eListas groups from now on.

The first month is now over! With today's installment, the first four weeks of ULTRA FEM are now past, and ULTRA FEM herself has finally made her grand entrance!

I always have to remind myself that, while I'm slogging away here at my desk, weeks ahead of everybody else, I'm seeing things and talking about things the nobody else will see for weeks! ULTRA FEM has only just TODAY made her first appearance in the released pages of the series, while Ive been past that for what seems like ages!

More importantly, the first batch of one-month subscriptions have expired. I actually got one renewal, but there are others whom I have not heard from yet. I'm SO grateful that they all felt strongly enough about my work to pay before it even got started!

Thanks, guys! REALLY! I hope you'll all come back!

Getting started on WEEK 7, which will come out on November 4, and will be the start of a new story arc. "The Big Bust" was a 6-page fluff piece, and now the REAL hard stuff will begin. And when I say "hard," I'm talking artistic AND sexual content!

This new story, which I haven't named yet, is going to be long. A lot longer than I'd first imagined. Maybe as long as 10 pages! That's 10 weeks - - TWO-&-A-HALF MONTHS!

And there will be some very serious hardcore SEX in it! In fact, MOST of it will be just sex-sex-sex! You'll love it! SUBSCRIBE!

Is it Monday morning already?? Page 5 is completely colored, and page 6 is now HALF colored! By tomorrow morning. I should be done with them both, and I can get started on page 7 which will be a NEW story arc!

Just mailed out ULTRA FEM - Week 3! This is exciting!

As for future weeks, I'm furiously working on them, and I'm deathly afraid of falling behind! I may have to cut significant amounts of work in the coloring department, because that's where I'm bogging down. Color just takes SO LONG!

Week 4 is in the can, Week 5 is half-colored and Week 6 is half-pencilled, so I'm not in any trouble right now. But it's a real nail-biter for me! Plus, I'm creating online comics for the 'League of Amazing Women' as well (more about them later), and I'm doing commissions, too! WHEW!

Finished page 4! All HELL breaks loose on page 4! Here's a teaser! It's due out on October 14.

A Villain! Here's the FIRST villain drawing I've done for Ultra Fem. She doesn't have a name yet, but she is based on a REAL person. Her name is ~Katincat~, a goth model whose Yahoo group can be found on my links list at right. It will be a LONG time before this character shows up in the pages of Ultra Fem... probably a YEAR! She'll need that lead-in time, though. She'll be a BIG DEAL when she finally shows!

Also, I e-mailed out the second week of Ultra Fem earlier today! And I DID get a couple of new subscribers this week. Tell your friends!!!

I completed the full inking for page 4 today, and just scanning it took longer than usual because I did it in so many disconnected pieces. The color job for this one will be tough because there are so many characters and details in it. *sigh* After tomorrow's page mails out to subscribers, I won't even be two weeks ahead!

INK! Here's the inked figure of UF in all her glory! Wow, I love this woman! Now that she's made her grand entrance in the comic (this page is due out on Oct 14), I can really start showing her off. This drawing really captures the beauty and the... irresistible pulchritude that I've been dreaming of for her.

I've added some details to her costume. It's no longer just a full-body leotard. There are snaps and zippers in the seams so she can have 'easy access' to the chest and crotch areas. (She'll be needing that access regularly!)

This is getting exciting. I hope some of you who read this can consider subscribing!

DONE WITH PAGE 3! Finally, after redrawing it FOUR times, I got what I wanted and colored / lettered it all! And now I can start in earnest on page 4, which will be due out on Oct 14. This picture is a sketch preview of Ultra Fem's grand entrance!

Week 3 still isn't done!! Yikes!! I have completed the color work for almost the entire page, but I've re-drawn the last panel THREE TIMES because I'm just not happy with it. This is slowing things down!

WEEK 1 is away! The first installment of Ultra Fem e-mailed out to subscribers earlier today. Hope everybody likes it! Next week's page is ready to go, and page 3 is almost done. Page 4 is in the pencil stage. It's been fun so far, and I'm looking forward to more!

BIG DAY TOMORROW! No previews to post today. Just a reminder that TOMORROW is the day for the FIRST installment of Ultra Fem! Can't wait!

Inks for WEEK 3 got done last night. I completely re-designed and re-pencilled much of the page. Glad I did, too. Looks much better. (That's a sample at left.)

I probably won't get WEEK 4 done by Friday. In fact I'm SURE I wont. But that will still leave me 3 weeks ahead, and by the following Friday, I'll be at LEAST a month ahead, probably 5 weeks.

This is going GREAT! And I'm having fun!

The PENIS That Wasn't There:


There are a number of viewers out there who insist that I have designed Ultra Fem as a she-male, that I gave her a penis in THIS DRAWING. That's obviously not true, but they won't give it up! (Yes, I'm talkin' to YOU, DrawingBoard.org!) So I cooked up the little graphic above.

I have to say that this has been one of the most interesting and entertaining little drawings I've ever done!

Completed the lettering for Ultra Fem page 2 (due out on the 31st) and the pencil work for page 3. That's a teaser from page 2 on the left.

Also finished a REALLY filthy drawing for this month's Comerotica Jam. Couldn't spend a lot of time on it, but it was fun!

Finished the lettering and everything else for page 1 tonight! It is COMPLETELY done, with a whole week to spare! At this rate, I'll have my first month of pages ready by next Friday. Just where I wanted to be!

And I got my first YEAR-LONG subscription, too!

NUDE WALLPAPER!

I am getting ready to make my first distribution to my priviledged few subscribers - - it's a NUDE VERSION of the famous (or maybe INfamous) Ultra Fem wallpaper that started this whole thing a couple of months ago.

ONLY subscribers will get this kind of stuff!

Got some really significant work done tonight. More than half finished the color for page 2, and it's going quicker than page 1 did. I'm making up short-cuts as I go, and I've also decided that there's no need for all the extra layers and color details on latter pages. The opening splash pages for each story arc will get all the goodies.

It looks like this is how things will go:

day 1) pencil two pages
day 2) ink those two pages
day 3 & 4) color first page
day 4 & 5) color second page
day 6) letter both pages

So in less than a week, I can get two weeks worth of pages done. With two weeks of work, I'll have the next month's pages in the can. This is perfect.

After 5am again, and I have completed the color work for the FIRST page of ULTRA FEM! It went quicker than I thought it would. I finished it before 4am, so I took a few minutes to fire off a piece for Illustration Friday.

I'm having FUN, and I'm really looking forward to the 23rd, when the comic will OFFICIALLY START!

UGH! 5:30 am! I completed almost all of the color work for page 1. Lighting effects and other special stuff still to do. But it's coming along!

A handful of subscriptions have trickled in, and I'm glad to have them, but there need to be more!

I had to close my portfolio account at DeviantArt.com because they censored me. They removed one of my pictures. I only had FOUR images on display there. The one they removed was the Night Mistress wallpaper. If you've seen it, you know how tame it is. No nudity, no crotch shot. She just happens to be holding a dildo. She's not DOING anything with it.

So I cursed them out and left. Turns out you can't actually DELETE your account, though. Their help file says that they "keep all accounts for historical purposes." WTF?? Their motto is "community spirit through working together." Is that a joke? What kind of art "community" has a "Policy Violation Team"??

Short story: don't go to DeviantArt.com - they suck.

Productive Night!

It's approaching 8am, and over night I finished the ink work for pages 1 and 2 of the web-comic, and I also completed a character design for 'Firework.'

I also re-designed J'izz J'onzon in a sudden fit of creativity. I am VERY pleased with the results! I was never really happy with the original design. I wanted her to be very weird but also a turn-on. By exaggerating her four huge breasts even more, as well as her hips, and also by making her completely naked, I think I got the sexy part accomplished. I also made her face less human and more menacing. She was just too 'cute' before.

Lost day.

I didn't get anything new done Friday. Spent the day wrestling with a broken toilet, going back and forth to the hardware store for parts. Then, inexplicably, I fell asleep and SLEPT ALL NIGHT! How novel.

So I lost the whole day when I need to be getting new material done EVERY DAY. Needless to say, I'll be busy all weekend. And HAPPILY so!

It's 6:45 am. Not only did I finish the preliminary inking for pages 1 and 2, I also inked AND colored the character design artwork for Batboy and The Pinnacle. Both of them are now in the archives at my eLista and Yahoo groups.

This week I started in earnest on the first installments of ULTRA FEM, the first page of which I've scheduled for Sept 23.

Last Night, I completed the preliminary pencil work for pages 1 and 2. There will need to be some finishing pencils, but they're pretty much done. I'm going to have to work on getting through the pencils as quickly as possible and do most of the detail work in the inking process. That will save me a LOT of time in the future, and I'm sure I'll get better and more disciplined about it as I go.

I'm debating whether to ink these two pages or create pencils for pages 3 and 4. I want to be working at least a month ahead. This first UF adventure looks like it's going to be at least 6 pages long.

Last night, I also completed the basic design drawing for BIG GIRL, as well as a BG wallpaper. People seem to like them!
